In 1990, Fagron started supplying pharmaceutical grade raw materials in smaller quantities to pharmacies in the Netherlands. With an increase in the demand and our continuous effort to provide value to the compounding pharmacies, we have expanded the product line with equipment and supplies. Today we support pharmacists worldwide and enable them to provide treatments of the highest quality and safety, while also optimizing the compounding process with our devices and packaging. Our portfolio of essentials includes pharmaceutical raw materials, equipment, and supplies needed to compound medicine in the pharmacy. Equipment and supplies are available worldwide through FagronLab.

With over 400 pharmacists within Fagron, we are focused on providing a unique range of high-quality products based on scientific data and insights. The Fagron Brands are unique concepts developed by our R&D specialists to provide pharmacies and clients with exclusive pharmaceutical dosage forms and active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). We can provide solutions for all steps inside a compounding setting, either equipment, excipients, APIs, packaging, and much more.

Next to pharmaceutical raw materials and vehicles, Fagron began delivering non-sterile ready-to-dispense compounded medicine to pharmacies in order to support them further. At the same time, pharmacies, prompted by the increasingly stricter regulations and focus on quality and efficiency, are outsourcing their sterile compounding more and more. At Fagron, we cater to this need by also supplying sterile ready-to-administer medicines to hospital pharmacies in those countries where the regulations allow these activities. These sterile and non-sterile products, which meet the specific needs of patients, are categorized under the “Compounding Services” segment and are produced by Fagron in compounding facilities in Europe, the United States, Colombia, Israel, and South Africa. These personalized medicines are supplied to pharmacies, hospitals, and clinics. Compounding Services uses the raw materials from Essentials and the vehicles from Brands for its compounding activities.

Fagron operates in a knowledge-intensive niche market. It is of great importance that the link to the final patient, the prescribers, and pharmacists, has thorough knowledge of the services and products that Fagron offers. Informing and training prescribers and pharmacists about compounding by organizing Fagron Academies in the countries where we operate is therefore an integral part of the strategy. Through training, courses and educational programs, Fagron Academy increases and improves the compounding knowledge and skills of prescribers and pharmacists. We offer the most extensive training and educational opportunities for, among other things, compounding techniques, the use of materials, administration forms and quality and safety procedures. Digitization is playing an increasingly greater role in the training courses and transfer of knowledge as a whole.
